The news about poker rooms being shut down, especially popular and beloved ones are always regrettable to the poker community. just recently it was found out that a huge poker network Microgaming (MPN) is to stop its operations soon. The process of liquidation of the network will be maximally pain-free for the users as they will be able to save their bankrolls and cash out all the money.

The news about Microgaming was first published in the network blog by its managing director Alex Scott. he told that the network is going to stop operating in Q2-Q3 next year. The exact date is not yet known.

Alex calmed the network users down by reassuring the rooms will function as they did previously till the very shut down. All the players will be able to withdraw money from their accounts. Why does such a popular poker network shut down? The thing is after a certain research the existing MNP business model was found deficient and not corresponding to the further vector of the company development.

On May 20th PokerKing made a global software update. Worth noting, that in April official representatives of the room said that the update was planned no earlier than summer, but the transition to a new version of the client took place at the end of May. Even though the update has happened quite recently, we can already note some pros and cons of the new software. This is exactly what we are going to do today. 

Adding mini-tables

New mini-tables were added to the new software, which is definitely a big plus for multi-tablers. Mini-tables have a standard size, handy fonts and nice decks. Player’s actions during the hand are highlighted in blue color.

Adding fast poker called «Blitz Poker»

In recent years, fast poker has become very popular, and now it is represented in many poker rooms. Fast poker called «Blitz Poker» was added to PokerKing in the latest software update.

Currently, only 3 stakes are available: NL2, NL10 and NL25. In the future there will be more limits available. The game runs in a 6-max format.

Disadvantages of the new software

At the moment, we are aware of the following problems that appeared after the update:

• All notes are lost;
• Progress in the loyalty system is temporarily not displayed, however, according to representatives of the room, it is recorded and will be taken into account during the next update;
• Leaderboards of weekly races are temporarily unavailable;
• «Blitz Poker», most SNGs and MTTs are temporarily unavailable due to client bugs.

Third-party software support in the new client

In many poker rooms third-party software often stops working after software updates. PokerKing didn’t avoid this problem after the latest update:

• The developers of popular trackers (HM2, H2N and PT4) have promised to release updates within 1-2 weeks, after which the trackers and HUDs should work;
• The developers of WPN Tools Lite (allows you to: display stacks and pots in big blinds, use hotkeys, change the location of the tables, configure betsizing, etc.) plan to release an update in June;
• There will most likely not be any layouts for the new software, since the graphic files of the new software are encoded.

The appearance of bugs after updating the software is a completely normal process and definitely not a reason to panic or leave the room. We are sure that with the following updates, most of the problems of the new PokerKing client will be fixed, and players will be able to enjoy the new full-featured and functional software. Recently we wrote about the upcoming ban on HUDs at PartyPoker. This rule will come into force on May 28, 2019. On the same day, all players will have the opportunity to change their nicknames.

GG network (BestPoker, Natural8, Breakout, BetKings)

From May 12 to May 26, 2019, GGNetwork will host a large online series called «Good Game Series 2» with a total guarantee of $10 000 000. The series will include 158 tournaments with buy-ins from $10 to $25 000.

Today, BestPoker is the European skin of the popular Asian network – Good Game Network, which prohibits the use of any third-party software. In October 2018, the network added a built-in HUD, where you can see the following information: the difference between the actual results and the EV results, the winrate during the session, the results against a particular opponent and three biggest pots played against him. Of course, this cannot be compared with traditional HUDs in PokerTracker or Holdem Manager, but even this kind of info is better than nothing.

The best action can be found from 4PM to 9PM Moscow time. At this time, there are lots of fish players from Asia, some of which are barely familiar with the rules. At micro stakes (NL10, NL25) there are more than 50 tables in total. At low stakes (NL50, NL100, NL200) the action is less intense – there are up to 10 tables of each limit. At NL400 and NL1000 you will rarely find more than 5 tables per limit. Omaha is played at stakes from PLO10 to PLO1000. On average, there are about 5 tables of each limit. Push-fold tables with the buy-in of 8BB are represented by 7 limits from NL25 to NL1000. Each of them has around 5 active tables.

RedStar Poker

Since 2019, all poker rooms within the Microgaming network (including RedStar Poker) have switched to the new Prima client, which does not support poker HUDs, and also has the following features that limit the ability to accumulate stats on your villains:

– the presence of anonymous tables, which account for approximately 30% of the total traffic;

– the possibility of changing the nickname one time per month or after 1 000 raked hands;

– random seating at cash tables.

Almost all traffic is focused at 6-max tables. At micro stakes (NL2, NL4, NL10) you can find about 30 tables per limit. At low stakes (NL20, NL50) there are usually up to 20 active tables. At NL100 – up to 10 tables. At NL200 and NL400 – up to 5 tables per limit. Omaha is played at stakes from PLO2 to PLO50 inclusive. For example, at PLO20, on average, there are about 20 tables. At PLO50 – around 5 tables. Fast poker is not very popular – the regular action can be found only at NL2.

Unibet Poker

Until 2014, Unibet Poker held leading positions in the Microgaming network, but then it became an independent poker room. Gold Poker Pro

This is a private Israeli poker room in which PokerProDeals provides access. Like any other reservation, Gold Poker Pro does not have high traffic. During the peak hours, the number of connections rarely exceeds 150. The action can be found at stakes from NL50 to NL1000. Omaha is as popular as NLHE and is played at stakes from PLO50 to PLO250.
