Where to Play at Mid Stakes Poker?

In August, we’ve told you about the poker rooms that are perfect for the micro stakes play. Today we will present the review of the top poker rooms with play at mid stakes (NL100 and higher). These stakes have many regular players, so the best possible rakeback deal is important for compensating possible downstreaks.

PartyPoker

This poker room is one of the best options to play at NL100 and higher. You are eligible for excellent rakeback of up to 40% (and additional bonuses from PokerProDeals) and has a nice selection of 6-max tables.

During peak hours, there are so many tables:

  • NL100 – 10-12;
  • NL200 – 12-15;
  • NL500 – 6-7;
  • NL1K – up to 5.

Also, some Hold’em action is present at fast poker tables at NL100 (up to 80-90 connections) and some 9-max tables at NL100-200.

Omaha at stakes of PLO 100-500 has 5-6 tables at each stakes limits.

Sometimes there are tables up to NL5K and PLO5K.

In addition to PartyPoker, PokerProDeals offers middle and high stakes play in two more poker rooms that belong to European networks and have traffic peak in evenings.

Omaha has the action at PLO100 (up to 8 tables) and has 2-3 tables at the higher stakes from time to time.

RedStar Poker

NL100-200 in this room have 6-8 tables each. The stakes higher have just 1-2 tables (NL400-NL1K) at each of the stakes limits.

For the players who like to play late, mid stakes session at some other rooms work better.

PokerKing

This American poker room allows you getting up to 70% rakeback. Play at stakes of NL100 and more is at its peak late at night and in early morning European time. Unlike all the above-mentioned poker rooms, most of the action here takes place at full-ring tables.

Approximate traffic size in PokerKing at 6-max tables in Hold’em:

  • NL100 – 12-14;
  • NL200 – 7-9;
  • NL400-600 – 4-6;

  • PLO200 – 5-6;
  • PLO400-1K – up to 7.

TigerGaming

The flagship poker room of Chico network has the weakest mid stakes public among the above presented. Our website will provide you with 60% rakeback in it.

Early in the morning European time, TigerGaming has the following number of short tables:

  • NL100 – 8-10;
  • NL200 – 7-9;
  • NL500 – 5-6;
  • NL1K – up to 5.

9-max tables are presented in the similar fashion with 6-max ones, but the only stakes available are NL100-200.

Omaha has the most popular stakes at PLO200 and PLO500, the total number of tables is around ten. There may be a couple of tables at PLO1K-PLO1,6K.

Playing at Micro Stakes: Best Poker Rooms

Tables for small stakes (microstakes up to NL50) make most of the traffic of all the poker rooms. It won’t be too hard for you to play in them. Here is the list of the things you won’t be able to get everywhere:

  • the best rakeback deal (due to high rake at these stakes it is especially important);
  • the required number of tables for you at the most convenient time;
  • weak opponents at the stakes you play;
  • safe transactions and a good service.

We’ve made a selection of six poker room for you to choose the most suitable for you to play at micro stakes.

PartyPoker

Party is among the leading poker room in the worlds. Standard rake size with clear-cut rakeback system of 20% to 40% money back allows comforty play at micro stakes. PokerProDeals players get additional advantages in more payouts. While wagering the first deposit bonus (100% up to $500), you might have  the rakeback of up to 80%.

Two of the biggest disadvantages of playing cash games at Partypoker are relatively strong field starting at NL10 and the limited trackers at the regular tables (as the opponents are anonymous and stats are only available for the current session at the table).

In addition to the big PartyPoker rakeback, this poker rooms offers the widest choice of playing at micro stakes. According to our data, on evening during work days from 18:00 to 24:00 (in the middle of August), the average number of tables is the following:

  • NL2-5  – 50-70;
  • NL10 – 20-25;
  • NL25  – 15-25;
  • NL50 – 15-20.

Omaha:

  • PLO2-5 – 15-20;
  • PLO10 – 15-20;
  • PLO25 – 20-25;
  • PLO50 – 15-20.

Fast Poker (number of players):

  • NL5  – 110-170;
  • NL10 – 95-115;
  • NL25  – 120-145;
  • NL50 – 100-110.

Up to NL25 included  one is able to play at 9-max tables in partypoker, there are up to 10 of them at each of the stakes.

You can always sit at 6-max tables – choosing the one of Casual tables (С) that disallow multi-tabling. Amateurs usually play at these tables.

PokerKing

This poker rooms with US players, just like Party, is able to provide you with the nice rake back of 10% to 40% on loyalty system, and players at NL25 to NL50 are able to compete for the daily payouts in the weekly race.

In comparison with partypoker where one has to make just $100 to receive 20% rakeback, PokerKing provides all the players with minimal rakeback of 10%, but in order to increase the numbers to 20%, the rake generated has to be several times bigger than in Party. So we may conclude that  rakeback for NL10 regulars is better at partypoker, and for NL25-50 players – at PokerKing.

  • PLO2-4 – 6-9;
  • PLO10 – 3-7;
  • PLO20 – 3-6;
  • PLO50 – 2-5.

Red Argentina de Poker

LATPoker is one of the poker rooms of South American poker network  Red Argentina de Poker. Its main distinctions from the other poker rooms in this article is that it has a high level of the rakeback (fixed payments from our website and a regular rake race) and a very weak field. In addition to that all the traffic in LATPoker, peak of the traffic here is in the morning European time.

New Microgaming poker network software

On July, 26th all the websites of Microgaming software allowed their users to download and install the new poker client called “Prima”. It will work alongside the old one till the end of the year.

As the developers claim, they were aiming for the following while creating the new client:

  • availability for multiple platforms – instead of six versions for different OS, “Prima” supports any devices;
  • minimalist – the client was deprived  all the functions and options that weren’t used by the players, and the access to different games was maximally improved;
  • feedback adjustments – all the wishes of the players on clients operating will be included in it

How were all these goals realized in practice?

What are the new features available in the new poker client of Microgaming network?

  • The main lobby that is open each time when the client is launch is fast games access lobby now. It is a series of panels with symbols of certain games (Fish PArty, Hold’em or Omaha cash tables, tournaments and casino games). If you click on the panel, you start to play or enter the lobby you need if it is MTT;
  • Fast access lobby has a horizontal menu with the following points: Fish Party, Blaze,  Holdem, Omaha, Casino;
  • Holdem and Omaha sections have three options: cash games, Sng, tournaments and three windows with the filters that include tables type, table size, real money and play money tables;
  • Cash games in the lobby are grouped on stakes and players are seated there randomly;
  • Tournament lobby right to the list of tournaments has the info about the highlighted MTT at the moment. It has three sections: description, structure, players;
  • The animation of the poker tables is now more bright and colorful. There are new action buttons and bet size selection indicators. The right top corner has 4 buttons (right to left): purchase the chips, enter hand history) any hand may now be saved as a GIF, deposit, pop-up menu with 7 points (you can auto place tables and change the background here);
  • Right top part of the client has the pop-up menu with 13 points. Here is all the info on the player and the client, transactions, support service. The main new feature is “Player’s history: – that has net profit info in a certain time period on all kinds of poker – one is able to see the profit during the profit at certain tables and tournaments even.
  • after each time the client is closed, one is able to send the text message with wishes on its operating improvements.

What was gone from the client?

  • There is no more division on common and anonymous tables;
  • Some kinds of tables and new options for deck animation;
  • The lobby of the tournaments in a new window;
  • availability to have a look and choose the cash table;
  • new tournament lobby and opportunity to have a look at the completed tournaments and tables that don’t have you enrolled
  • chat at the tables
  • all the other kinds of poker different to Hold’em and Omaha;

What has remained untouched in the new Microgaming network  poker rooms?

  • Fish Party tournaments lobby;
  • Fat poker –  Blaze lobby.

Conclusions

We understand that “Prima” client is just several days after the release, and as they say at Microgaming, new adjustments are coming, but we can conclude some things about it. “Prima” has become the realization of the network aims for amateur players. Now it is more inclined to lottery Fish Party and cash tables. There are more casino games in the lobby now. One is not able to select the table and trackers support is done so it is hard to play against a certain opponent now. Small fonts at the tables for reflection of bet sizes, pots and nicknames of the players will make multi-tablers’ life more difficult. All we are left with is the opportunity to see the impact of the new lobby for the network and its tables.

Best poker rooms for play at night

Every poker player tries to adjust his grinding-hours in order to get the most action possible.

Traditionally, for most poker players it means playing during evening-hours (European time), when the amoung of available tables reaches its maximum.

But for some people this time is not considered as a convenient one. Nevertheless, they still can find poker-rooms where peak-hours are shifted towards midnight. In this article we want to share our knowledge about three of such poker rooms and we will show you how the amount of cash tables changes from midnight towards 4AM CET time (we have takes three different time stamps: 10-00PM, 1-00AM, 4-00AM).

PokerKing

This is the biggest and the most famous poker-room where you can run into american players. PokerKing attracts players with a decently good rakeback-deals (up to 40%) and additional payments with a regular Kings Treasures race, which can bring up to 30% more rakeback.

At low-limts from NL10 to NL50 we haven’t noticed any kind of considerable spreading in the number of 6-max tables regarding three different time stamps:

  • NL10 – 12, 7, 11 tables;
  • NL25 – 12, 12, 12(1) tables;
  • NL50 – 6, 5(2), 7(2) tables.

In the parentheses above you can see the amount of CAP-tables.

Meanwhile, we have spotted a notable growth of tables running from 10-00PM to 4-00AM:

  • NL100 – 6, 10(1), 14(2) tables;
  • NL200 – 1, 9, 15 tables;
  • NL400 – 2, 5, 76 tables.

In the parentheses above you can see the amount of CAP-tables.

There were also some higher-stakes (NL600-NL5000) games running , but usually there were only 1-3 tables and they have been inconsistent during night-time.

As for full-ring tables on PokerKing, we have noticed that only at NL200-400 there were considerably more tables in the morning compared to 10-00PM –  4-5 tables for each limit compared to only 1.

At every other limit (from NL10 to NL100) the amount of 9-max tables during night-time was approximately the same – from 4 to 7 for each limit.

In PokerKing we have found considerably less games in PLO, although we have seen one table of PLO5k running in the morning. Only at PLO100 we have spotted a notable growth of the amount of tables running from 4-00 to 8-00 AM. At every other limit there were always 3-4 tables running.

TigerGaming

This canadian poker-room offers smaller rakeback compared to PokerKing, but it has a weaker field at all limits.

During night, we have noticed a significant increase of running 6-max tables only at NL10 (from 9 to 15-16 tables) and NL50(from 2 to 9 tables). At every other limit the number of tables running was approximately the same:

  • NL25 – 7-9 tables;
  • NL100 – 7-10 tables;
  • NL200 – 3-4 tables;
  • NL500 – 2-4 tables.

Unlike PokerKing, we have seen the most expensive games running in TigerGaming at 10-00PM (NL1k and NL2k, 2 tables of each limit), but later on they have disappeared.

Full-ring tables in PokerKing are quite popular, but the amount of tables running has been more or less the same:

  • NL10 – 5-7 tables;
  • NL25 – 3-4 tables;
  • NL50 – 1-2 tables;
  • NL100 – 5-7 tables;
  • NL200 – 3-5 tables.

In TigerGaming the amount of PLO and PLO8 tables is just about the same, but at limits from PLO25 to PLO1k you would rarely see more than 5 tables of each limit. Only at PLO10 you can easily find more than 10 tables all night long.

Red Argentina de Poker

This latin poker network offers a good rakeback and softer field. You will run into more or less the same amount of NLHE and PLO tables, although you will find more expensive games in PLO.

In Red Argentina de Poker all tables are separated into 2 types: first ones use brazilian reals (1FBR – $0.26) and second ones use speacial chips (1CHP – $0,055).

We have divided all NLHE tables into 7 groups, which more or less represent the usual poker limits (time stamps are the same: 10-00PM, 1-00AM, 3-00AM):

  • NL11-13 (FBR 0.25/0.5 CHP 1/2) – 6(2), 9(2), 13(2);
  • NL22-26 (FBR 0.5/1 CHP 2/4) – 4(1), 6(1), 9;
  • NL33 (CHP 3/6) – 1, 5(1), 4;
  • NL50-55 (FBR 1/2 CHP 5/10) – 5, 7(1,) 8;
  • NL220(CHP 20/40) – 2, 1, 0;
  • NL275(CHP 25/50) – 1, 1, 0;
  • NL550(CHP 50/100) – 0, (1,), 2(1).

In the parentheses above you can see the amount of CAP-tables.

From that list you can see, that the amount of tables increases towards morning. At 4-00AM there were also 2 tables of FBR 2/4-3/6(NL110-150).

Here are the some numbers about night-time traffic in PLO:

  • PLO11-13 (FBR 0.25/0.5 CHP 1/2) – 9, 9, 9;
  • PLO22-26 (FBR 0.5/1 CHP 2/4) – 7, 7, 8;
  • PLO50-55 (FBR 1/2 CHP 5/10) – 5, 6, 6;
  • PLO100-110 (FBR 2/4 CHP 10/20)- 3, 3, 4;
  • PLO250-275(FBR 5/10 CHP 25/50) – 6, 4, 7;
  • PLO550(CHP 50/100) – 2, 2, 7.

Besides the highest limit, we can observe just about the same amount of tables during night-time.

Overall, if we consider all three poker-rooms as described above, then in most cases the optimal time for a night-time grind is the middle of the night and it ends around 7-8 AM. So, basically, you can get yourself around 5-6 hour night-time grind everyday.

Why you should start playing on PartyPoker right now?

In the last 2 years PartyPoker has become a main hope of the regular poker players, who are still dreaming about a good-old-fashioned online-poker (with an opportunity to get a reasonable rakeback deal, a transparent bonus system without any kind of random factor and a straightforward rake distribution and standard-sized comissions.

Nowadays PartyPoker is the biggest poker-room, which meets the needs of the regular players the best and in this short article we want to tell you the exact reasons why you should definetely start playing on PartyPoker.

Rakeback

Since 2017 Party Poker has been running a new loyalty-system. Players receive weekly payments just by clicking a button in the poker-client:

  • from $25 to $149 rake – up to 20% rakeback;
  • from $150 to $599 rake – up to 25% rakeback;
  • from $600 to $1199 rake – 30% rakeback;
  • from $1200 rake – 40% rakeback;

There is also a first-deposit bonus (100% up to $500 with 3 month duration), which can give an extra 12,5% rakeback.

We also wanna stress out, that PokerProDeals players can get an additional rakeback on PartyPoker, which will be processed to a suitable payment system for them.

Rake considerations

We can confidently say, that PartyPoker has ignored all modern online-poker tendencies about rake collecting. PartyPoker has decided not to increase the rake and not to implement any kind of speacial rake distribution system. PartyPoker collects a standard 5% rake on every cash-game table and uses a good-old weighted-contributed system of the rake collection. A player gets charged for rake according to his share in the pot.

Here are some cap’s examples:

  • $1 at NL10 regardless of the amount of players at the table;
  • from $1 to $3 on a higher limits with different amount of players at the table.

Traffic

The key factor for a good grind is the presence of sufficient amount of tables running.Compared to other poker-rooms, Party Poker has an undeniable advantages. For the last 2 years Party Poker has become the only poker-room, which has managed not just to keep the average amount of cash-players, but to increase it for more than 10%.

Nowadays, only PokerStars has more games running than Party Poker. Let’s explore, what PartyPoker can offer during a summer low-season evening hours.

6-max NLH tables:

  • NL10 – around 25 tables;
  • NL25 – up to 20 tables;
  • NL50 – more than 10 tables;
  • NL100 – around 10 tables;
  • NL200-NL500 – up to 10 tables for both limits together.

6-max PLO tables:

  • PLO25-PLO50 – around 10 tables for each limit;
  • PLO100-PLO1K – up to 5-6 tables for each limit.

PartyPoker is one of a few poker-rooms which has 5 limits of the fast-poker (FastForward). Here are some numbers, which can be a good representation of the amount of FastForward game-entries during evening prime-time:

  • NL5 – more than 100 entries;
  • NL10 – 65-70 entries;
  • NL25 – 80-90 entries;
  • NL50 – 70-80 entries;
  • NL100 – 60-70 entries;

Spin-and-Go

This is a new format of lottery Sit-n-goes, which in the last couple of years has become a major playground for all players, who are really into SnG format. PartyPoker is currently the best place for grinding spins (by the way, on PartyPoker they’re called Sit and Go Hero):

  • A pretty-good PartyPoker rakeback;
  • PartyPoker offers 10 different limits of Spins;
  • starting from $50 limit the rake is only 5%, which in conjunction with a 40% rakeback makes these tournaments the most profitable in online-poker;
  • two the highest limits ($250 and $500) have only 4% rake.

PartyPoker provides with new SnG Jackpot stakes of $250 and $500

PartyPoker have recently made another step toward competitous fight for the lead in the modern online poker. It is connected with local Spins analogue – SnG Jackpot.

Party have embraced one of their best new poker formats – lottery SnG tournaments with Jackpot in spring 2016. The poker room have decided to be creative and Sit & Go HERO, new to the lobby, weren’t like any similar tournaments in different rooms. They had 4-max format and one of the player at the table was randomly selected for the bounty.

Such an approach from PartyPoker wasn’t really supported by the players. Sit & Go HERO didn’t gain too much popularity. Currently they are only available at three stakes with maximal buy-in of twenty dollars.

Part have reacted fast to the absence of interest of the players to 4-max tournaments and in less that a year new tournaments were added to the poker client – SnG Jackpot in a classic format for this type of tournaments – 3-max.

In a rather fast time the line of stakes of SnG Jackpot grew to eight stakes from 25 cents to $100. Now PartyPoker have become the second poker room in history with more expensive pins stakes of $250 and $500.

MAximal multipliers are х4,800 and х2,400, so the biggest possible win is the same as for the stakes of $100 – one mo;;opm twenty thousand dollars. There is a curious probability distribution of other multipliers:

  • 2х – 68,7238% and 68,6038%;
  • 4х – 22,6631% and 22,7831%

This is 0.5% less that at stakes of $100. This half of a percent was added to x10 multiplier, so the probability of its appearance grew up twice in comparison with stakes of $100.

The biggest news for SnG Jackpot of $250 a d $500 is rake of mere 4%. This is the lowest sum for all such tournaments in all the rooms. We can see that such rake with an opportunity to receive up to 40% rakeback is able to attract to these stakes some regulars from high stakes spins from the other poker rooms. Firstly, the traffic is expected from PokerStars where the same stakes have 5% rake a d rakeback is almost non-existent with several percent.

Will new stakes attract amateurs – it remains to be seen. As well as the other question – will SNG Jackpot $250 and $500 have enough traffic and are the regulars comfortable with such a huge number of players of the same class at the tables of these stakes?i

We can say without a doubt that after embracing a rather expensive cash game, these high stakes spins will bring new benefits to PartyPoker. We are left to see more active actions from the room on attracting to tabes not just regulars, but also amateurs.

PartyPoker owner buys Ladbrokes Coral Group

In the end of March a saga on buying that continued for over a year on buying a controlling stake of Ladbrokes Coral Group by gaming holding CVG Holdings (which also owns PartyPoker and Bwin).

First info of this deal came to press attention in the beginning of 2017. At first, negotiations weren’t too successful as both sides could agree upon the price. Only in the very end of 2017 information about the deal that gave CVG 53.5% of LCG’s stock for 4 billion pounds, or 5.3 billion dollars.

Since that time up to March 2018 deal was waiting for its confirmation at Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). It had to find out that this absorption won’t lead to lowering competition at the market of gambler’s service. In result. After three months, this organization approved the deal. Now it can be considered a closed deal.

So what is Ladbrokes Coral Group? This copany was created not so long ago – in July, 2016. That was the time Ladbrokes purchased Coral for 2.3 billion pounds that has lead to creating the biggest sportsbook under British jurisdiction. Only on the territory of this country they have about 3.5 thousand departments.

That means CVG Holdings have purchased LCG firstly as a sportsbook as now holding is one of the biggest players on the European market of sports betting as it also owns Bwin and Sportingbet  This is also confirmed by a small press release at the website of the holding.

We are mostly interested in the consequences this deal might have for the world of online poker. As officials didn’t comment on this occasion, we are only left to guess what might happen.

Ladbrokes Coral Group includes several poker rooms, two of the biggest there are – Ladbrokes and Coral that are a part of IPoker network. Sportium.es is the part of Italian reservation of IPoker. So poker future of CVG may be developed in two directions:

  • In euro pool
  • In the network of Party/Bwin.

Even before CMA decision was announced, Party Poker administration announced that it is being prepared to create a common pool of players in four European countries – France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. As an answer to this reunion, PokerStars united poker markets of France and Spain in January this year.

Now CVG has French and Spanish divisions of PartyPoker and  corporate Italian room of Bwin and GiocoDigitale, as well as another room operating in this country Sportium.es.

Poker network Party/Bwin is on the rise during the latest two-year-span and its owners are moving toward the course of increasing its role in online poker and its will to invest to this process. So that players from Ladbrokes and Coral will help to resolve this matter.  Union of these pools (Party/Bwin, Ladbrokes, Coral) is the most reasonable and comfortable way to increase competition of poker departments of CVG Holdings.

There is one huge”but”. They have to make a deal with PlayTech. As if IPoker will leave these networks, they won’t only lose part of the income but also risk to lose all networks that aren’t doing great recently. Exit of two of the biggest rooms – Ladbrokes and Coral may lead to the failure of whole IPoker and bigger losses for Playtech. This company is a strategic partner of – Ladbrokes Coral Group.

In March, Ladbrokes together with PlayTech completed creating the only platform for access of one of the accounts to all the online products of the company from all the devices. Coral did that not so long ago. As if transfer would have been planned to software of Party Gaming, why would they finalize a common project with Playtech after LBC absorption? As if all the rooms of CVG Holdings operated as a single pool, it had to be Party software. Integration projects of poker clients within a single network are yet unknown as it seems impossible.

Here we are talking about a single platform that unites poker, sports betting, casino games, lotteries, bingo and other games. Now in terms of the holding, one of its part operates on a platform of Party Gaming, and the other part on Playtech platform. Transfer of Ladbrokes and Coral to Party network is not just a change of poker client, this is a transfer from one gaming platform to another that touches all the products, not just poker. According to the fact mentioned earlier, this transition is not planned and its making is connected with too big of the financial and reputational losses that couldn’t be compensated with PartyPoker’s traffic growth of 10-15%

Conclusion: no union of poker departments of CVG Holdings is coming in the following several years.
